Project 52 2026 week 36

First full week back at school, the weather turned colder (my slippers are back on), and a few things falling into place which is good. Here’s this week’s Project 52, for week 36.

Sunday – had a nice lie in reading. Then off to the butchers, and M&S to drop off some returns. Chatted to our neighbour as someone nearby had a burglary and we’re trying to work out how none of us heard anything given the nights have been so still and noise carries so easily where we are. Fairly quiet day otherwise with a steak dinner.

Monday – got the slow cooker going on even before bus drop off so that was very efficient of me! Just a normal working and school day for us. Organised a catch up with a friend as an early 50th birthday celebration. I was debating whether to do a party, but my friends are all quite random, and ideally I’d want one with lots of dancing, not just a disco, so I couldn’t work out how to get everyone up and involved. But it’ll be nice to catch up with a friend, and I really should organise a meal out for our local farmer friends for it.

Tuesday – quiet at work as lots of people were in all day meetings. Dancing in the evening which was a good class, and met my friend’s grown up daughter who came along to the earlier class. Later night than expected given I had an early start the next day.

Wednesday – work annual conference in Birmingham so a very early start. Nice to meet lots of my colleagues I’ve not seen in person, and found someone who also line dances so had a good chat with her. Decided not to stay for drinks as I was all people’d out, so managed to get an earlier train home than expected. And bonus, got an unused reserved seat that was for my whole journey. It was a good train day; the Cross Country trains I needed to get were running on time both directions. Wasn’t back too late, and kind of got a slightly earlier night.

Thursday – work as normal. N’s school have changed from Classcharts which was absolutely fine, to another system. The parent’s app is ok although it’s not got as many helpful features and decent format as Classcharts. But so many kids including N can’t access the students version from home, so can’t actually see his homework etc. He’s going to have to download the parents version at this rate and login as me to save me having to keep him posted each day. Not very helpful with being in Year 11!

Line dancing in the evening. Without fans going, I have no reason to hog my place in the back row, so I’m back to jumping around wherever there’s room. This time it seemed the new people were being told to watch me for the steps when we changed wall. It’s always nice to hear.

Friday – short work day, still pretty quiet. In the evening I dropped N off at tennis, then was off to pick up a friend to go to our dance social. Had a brilliant time, I hardly sat down. Bumped into a couple of people I met at a workshop I went to a couple of week’s ago. Everyone’s excited for our dance weekender coming up.

Saturday – early out to M&S to pick up a jeans order. 3 pairs ordered, and I reckon only the expensive ones are going to fit. I used to wear their jeans all the time, but even though I’ve lost a small amount of weight, I still can’t get into jeans the same size I’ve been wearing for years. They’ve definitely made their jeans smaller for the sizing, and lots of people are saying that online. Got to the village bakery near us at 9.05, and it was already open. Last week I’d been still queueing at 9.20 (they open at 9ish!).

Back home nice and early, so did various bits like multiple washloads/folding, sorting out the fridge etc as well as getting chance to read, and watch some tv.

Things I’ve enjoyed this week:

  • Really good line dance social. I barely sat down!
  • Chatting to a good friend and getting plans in place; she’s planning a day out for us to celebrate my big birthday
  • Finding all the upcoming dates for Stuff my Kindle (or other ereader) days.

Things I’m grateful for this week:

  • Replacement bra being sent out. I bought a whole load of new ones in July/August, and I’d already had one refund for a wire coming out of one. But had another one do the same this week. Pleased to get a replacement. But frustrating given I’ve worn this brand’s bras for years with nothing happening to those wires. I’m still going to machine wash!
  • Trains on time both directions for my work event.
  • My new Fuego dance shoes arriving ahead of the line dance weekend (they’d been on order since May)

  1. I’ve definitely noticed the mornings being a bit colder this week. Nice to organise a catch up with a friend as an early birthday celebration. Always nice to get a bonus seat and have the trains run on time! The new app for school sounds frustrating and how annoying that the M&S jeans are smaller. So glad that your dance shoes arrived in time for the line dance weekend. #project365

  2. It has got colder, I’ve been reaching for my blanket more.
You should have a party for your birthday! You could have a disco and have them play all the songs you dance to so it’s a mix of both!
Ugh to the change with the app from N’s school. I hope it starts working like it should soon.
