Project 52 2025 week 6
It’s been a tiring week, I’ve not been sleeping that well. I really need a few days to sleep and catch up. But I’ve been out and about a bit more than normal with a flexi day which is always nice (although didn’t go as planned). Here’s my week 6 for project 52.
Sunday – after a very late night, I was exhausted when I was woken at 7 by a very loud child arriving home. I read for a bit, then did some crochet and blogging, put some more washing on and the dishwasher that Iโd forgotten to put on last night before going out. Tried to shake off my headache. I always find Sundays go so fast, itโs lunchtime and then mid afternoon before you know it.
Monday – not much happened, just the trek for school bus pick up a nice 6 mile detour because of the road closure into the village.
Tuesday – the roadworks were still there โclosingโ the road despite them not having actually done any work there, and it meant to have finished by 9.20 that morning.ย We learnt another dance at line dancing. Sheโs racing through them now which is great. It was a bit quieter as well, so more space in the room.
Wednesday – I did a trial a few months ago with the Dancebit app, then thought Iโd cancelled the trial as I always put reminders before the deadline in my calendar. But then received a message from them saying payment had been declined. I checked my bank app and there was a suspected fraud notification. Sigh. Turns out my subscription hadnโt been cancelled, so although it wasnโt fraud at least it hadnโt gone out of my account. I made sure the subscription was properly cancelled on the app.
Thursday – was just about to leave to drop off N to hear a cow that looked like it was about to start calving that the OH had penned up in the barn out the way, had managed to get out. And we had no idea where it had gone. Nightmare. So we drove off to the bus stop checking all the fields as we drove past.ย
Had decided to drop N at the normal stop because the bus had come into the village every day, picked up then left the way it came in. Only today it decided to totally miss the village out. So I had a call at 7.40 saying it hadnโt come – the tracker hadnโt been working so weโd had no idea until eventually one of their friends texted to tell them too late. Off I raced to see if I could pick them up and beat the bus to the next village the shorter route. Unfortunately it had already gone through, so I ended up having to take them to school. Luckily I wasnโt due in the office until 9, so I was still on time.
More fraud nightmares continued as the bank rang, amusingly the number came up as spam. I called the normal customer number and got put through where they told me theyโd blocked my card. I went through the whole story, but I hadnโt seen a cancellation email confirmation so had to check for that or get that from the company before ringing to confirm and getting the block lifted. Then for security I had to confirm about 10 other payments. I canโt remember every shop I do so that was fun.
Friday – had a flexi day. Iโd planned to do the new Blenheim exhibitions/tours, but it turned out they didnโt start for another week. Decided against National Trust as Iโve done lots round by us and wasnโt feeling very inspired. Iโd seen the RSC in Stratford had a free exhibition, so decided to go there. But Iโm a morning person and it turned out on arrival that it didnโt open at 10 like the rest of the venue, but at 12.ย So that was frustrating. Instead, I did a bit of shopping, stopped for a hot drink and early lunch, then headed home to catch up on the European ice skating from the other week.
Saturday – early start for an hourโs drive to Nโs football match. Luckily the snow and sleet was fleeting the night before, but it was so foggy and cold. Theyโd been beaten by this team the previous week when N wasnโt playing and they were rusty from no matches since November. But this week all played well, and we beat them 2-0. Great play by ours, proper passing football. After watching the opponents, Iโm not sure how theyโve been unbeaten so far this season, as they werenโt so great. Many teams get by with 1 or 2 really good players, but they didnโt, so itโs a bit of a mystery how theyโve done so amazingly all season. It made it a long day not getting home til nearly 2.

New posts this week:
- 2 types of crochet heart patterns
- plus lots removed from my old All Things Lists blog that I’m closing down.
Things I’ve enjoyed this week:
- doing some crocheting
- being in the office when it’s so busy
- being back watching them play football matches. People moan about having to do that, but I love it (although it was cold)
Things I’m grateful for:
- N trying out his new purchases on my car, practising using the detailing liquids etc. I’ve no idea what he does, but occasionally he disappears with tub and brushes, and the next time I go in the car, there’s another bit inside shining!
- The road being open again. Halleluia. I don’t think they even did any work there
- Fish and chips takeaway when I really didn’t want to cook (I had battered halloumi with salad)

Hope that this week has been less tiring and you are sleeping better. The detour with the roadworks sounds like a pain and how annoying that the bus then missed out the village when the road was open. Glad you were able to get N to school on time. Did you find the cow in the end? Hope you got sorted out with the bank in the end over the fraud alert. Well done to N and his team on their win. #project365
I don’t miss watching my kids playing football at all in the winter months, it’ll be their turn soon to do it with their kids although I’m sure I’ll get roped in again somehow. Shame about the roads and the buses, it sounds a night mare living where you are. hope the bank card issue is all sorted now
Hope you’ll have better sleep soon, it is so hard to function without a proper sleep. The escaping cow adventures sound like a big worry. Hope you managed to locate it before the baby arrived.
The bank cancelling the card is very frustrating. I can never remember the exact amounts, and had problems with the bank before, when they asked me in a similar scenario.
Glad the road is open now, what a relief.
Beautiful photo of the swans. They are so elegant.
Sounds like a nightmare with the bank. I have to out reminders in my calendar to make sure I cancel stuff.
The bus sounds a nightmare, I wish I didn’t have to drive mine to school but there are no buses for us. Does N want to clean my car?
How frustrating about the bank, but at least you know they are doing their job to protect you from fraud. Well done to your son’s team on winning the match.
So sorry you have had a tiring week. I hope you catch up on your sleep soon.
Sundays always go so quickly here too even though we never do much.
It sounds like you have had lots of annoyances with the roadworks, missing bus, bank issues and escaped cow, I hope it turned up safe and well. x
It did, it was hiding behind the sileage clamp, and calved once they got it back in the barn, so all good.
