Project 52 2025 week 45

It’s week 45 of this year’s Project, and it’s been quite a tiring one considering I’ve just had a week off work. Or maybe that’s why. Anyway here’s my week.

Sunday – morning was a quick nip for meat from the farm shop, bread, and a couple of bits from B&M. Then back home – not really sure what I did all day. It felt like I was on the go all day, but must have had some sit down time. Without the oven, I did pulled pork in the slow cooker, with roasts and cauliflower cheese in the airfryer for tea. It’s hard to get timings right/keep things warm without the oven or my usual timings.

Monday – N nearly missed the bus as it was early and sitting there when we got to the village. The car in front of us was dropping 2 girls off for it too, and 3 were just walking down the road to catch it as I drove off. Luckily the driver waited til the correct time it was due before leaving. Always a worry when it’s a local bus, but he obviously knew most of his customers at that time are school kids. Back to work was hard after a week off.

Tuesday – in the office, then out dancing in the evening. It was like a sauna again – whoever opens up the hall really doesn’t need to put the heating on. Unless they’re set to always be on, which seems like a big waste of money.

Wednesday – work, and then off to the theatre to see Mary Poppins. The journey was good (not much being stuck behind slow cars) both directions, parking was easy, and I had a great seat. The show was brilliant, the cast was fabulous, especially the girl playing Jane Banks. Late night home afterwards though.

Thursday – new oven day. I was in work calls all morning, so it was a bit noisy because the delivery/fitting guy had to cut more out of the worksurface for it. Turns out our kitchen wasn’t well put together given the gap in there already was wonky. It’s nice to have a shiny new oven, and I’ve just got to keep a watch out for us all not smashing pans or anything else down onto the ceramic hob. Annoyingly I went to put on new trousers only to find the zip was total broken – I didn’t even get chance to pull it up. So those had to be sent back. Luckily I didn’t just stash them in a cupboard and forget about them til later.

Dancing was good, I gave my ‘new’ dancing shoes that I’ve had since Covid but never worn, to a friend who I’m hoping has a leatherwork friend who can put in some elastic to give me some extra strap length for when my ankle swells up.

Friday – short work day, then in the evening N had tennis despite the rain. Afterwards we nipped to the supermarket to get a present for someone’s birthday the next day. Nothing like leaving things til the last minute, but I’ll take any time I get with N as he rarely wants to come out with me.

Saturday – I had debated heading over to a different garden centre and shopping village, but I didn’t have enough time to do that, and also get bread and lunch stuff back again in time for them wanting lunch. So I just heading to town to drop off returns in store, post the broken trousers, and drop off a Vinted sale. Trip to the farm shop today which means a free morning tomorrow when I can go to the shopping village/garden centre place then instead. Did multiple loads of washing, and dishwasher unload, so felt like a lot of chores today. The intention is to get an earlier night than I have been having this week.

New posts this week:

Things I’ve enjoyed this week:

  • The Traitors final. I was amazed that they didn’t get Alan!
  • Mary Poppins, and comparing frustrations with the 2 ladies sitting next to me about the people in the middle of the row who arrived late, and then kept getting up and down (individually) at the interval. Argghhh!
  • Delicious beef stir fry while they had steak for dinner (with the steak and ‘roast chips’ cooked by N).
  • Watching Christmas decorating and wrapping tips on Facebook. I need to stop because it’s getting to be a bad habit. Plus we only ever have the tree up and no other decorations, so I don’t know why I’m watching them.

Things I’m grateful for:

  • A new oven
  • Hopefully dance shoes that can be made wearable
  • Finding a really good deal on a Costa chocolate, vanilla and cinnamon sprinkles gift pack, so I’ve been making lush hot chocolate with cream and sprinkles this week.

  1. I’ve just started reading all the Mary Poppins stories in one huge book. I loved the Traitors, I had no idea what it was about prior to watching it. Good to hear the driver waited for the kids art the bus stop.

  2. The first week back after a week off is always tiring. I hope you’ve had a relaxing Sunday to make up for it.
I saw Mary Poppins many years ago, and it was fantastic.
If only new ovens stayed nice and shiny.
    The hot chocolate sounds delicious.

  3. Your Sunday tea sounds so good!
Good on the bus driver for waiting, they wouldn’t here!
Mary Poppins sounds like a fantastic show!
The Traitors final was brilliant! x

    1. It was so good wasn’t it. I was hooked all series, they were so useless apart from a couple suspecting the traitors, but I’m guessing they had so many more expectations of what people were like because they knew them vs the normal traitors where the majority have no clue about each other.
