Project 52 2025 week 24
Sunday – had an appointment at Kwik Fit for 2 replacement tyres. That’s 6 I’ve had in the last 18 months, ridiculous given I do under 13k miles a year. The joys of living on a road which gets the odd pothole filled, but they ignore the fact that the road surface is basically worn off and it’s like off-roading. Yet other roads around it that only have potholes have been redressed and ours hasn’t been touched in the 20+ years I’ve lived here. Anyway, the tyre fitting was faster than anticipated.
Monday – not a lot happened. Just work and school.
Tuesday – had a theatre trip again, this time to see The Girl on the Train with Laura Whitmore in the lead role. It was a good play, although it did make me laugh that the girls behind me got a bit confused that it didn’t have any music in it. Er, not a musical.
Wednesday – after today work will hopefully become a bit calmer for me although it’ll take a few more weeks to get back to more normality. Phew. N’s hayfever was causing him hassles. Usually he’s not too bad with it.
Thursday – not much happening just work and school. I had line dancing. Numbers were swelled by 3 random families turning up complete with 6 girls of around 6 to 10 years old. It meant she did easier beginner dances than usual, but the girls mostly did ok and they all behaved. Then for some reason rather than starting new dances in improvers for the first week of the 12 lessons beginning again, she went over 4 beginners dances from the last 12 weeks. Not just whizzing through either. Plus put on another couple of improvers we could just run through. So we didn’t actually learn any new dances. I don’t understand why she didn’t run through improvers dances as that was the class we were in. Frustrating because I missed Tuesday’s improver class, so I would usually learn the new dances at the Thursday one to catch up. It was boiling though, even with the fans going.
Friday – I was ready for the end of the week. N had tennis, but he’s been suffering with hayfever, and during the lesson didn’t really look his usual self. He said he was just tired.
Saturday – N had a huge fever, so a day spent in bed and drinking homemade smoothies to try and cool him down. It seems to be a bit like flu – going hot and cold, but with a bit of a sore throat, so hoping it’s not going to be tonsillitis. So no football awards/match and a rearranged hair appointment for next week for him.

New posts this week:
Things I’ve enjoyed this week:
- Planning for a trip to Wimbledon
- The final of Race Across the World
- Another theatre trip
Things I’m grateful for this week:
- keeping my job!
- getting my tyres sorted
- the road closure signs that appeared on Thursday night, didn’t seem to close the road to the village, and were all gone by the afternoon
The peony looks like an ice cream at first glance. I missed Girl on a Train, didn’t find out it was on in Malvern until the last day. We need two new tyres for the camper van as they’re starting to crack.
That’s annoying going through that many tyres with the roads being in poor condition. We seem to go through tyres quite frequently too for the same reason. Hope that things are now calming down at work for you after your busy period. Poor N with the hayfever and then feeling unwell. Hope he is feeling better now. #project365
Poor N, hayfever has been relentless this year, Jake and Chris are both suffering badly here despite taking medication.
Great news about your job.
Those girls at the theatre must have been disappointed. I wonder if they had read the book beforehand.
That sounds like some roads around here. The pot holes are terrible and some of the roads too. It’s no fun having to buy tyres so often.
Everyone I know seems to be suffering from hayfever this year, even my fella who’s never been touched by it before.
Oh no! I hope N is feeling betters soon! I hope it isn’t tonsillitis! I forgot how bad it is until I suffered with it a little while ago.
The peonies do look pretty even if they were a bit rubbish. x
