Project 52 2025 week 23
Another week, and the weather’s definitely turned. We’ve had a bit of rain most days so the grass is looking greener. And I’m back needing more layers and my blanket to work under. Here’s week 23 of my Project 52.
Sunday – super lazy day. I didn’t leave the house. I did put another washload on, and the dishwasher, but other than that I read, watched movies, made some cookies, and just generally took it easy for a last day of half term holidays. N was car washing and out on the farm as usual.
Monday – surprisingly it was ok getting up earlier this morning. Busy day on catch up at work. I had a mammoth lunch of egg fried rice using up my leftover rice salad and half a burger from Saturday’s bbq. I did them a lazy tea of pork pie, new potatoes and salad. Monday’s always a struggle if we didn’t have a roast to use for leftover dinner at the start of the week.
Tuesday – we actually woke to a damp garden. Phew nice to have some rain although it was all sunny again by mid morning. Had a great dance class as it was the end of the 12 lesson run so lots of fun dances in the beginners class. But that meant it was also very hot. Thankfully the improvers class was just a normal lesson.
Wednesday – result. I actually slept until 2 mins before my alarm. Given I’ve been waking around 3 and then 5 for a couple of weeks, that’s good going. I felt more tired when first getting up though. We ended up with a late trip to the village shop for some yoghurt so N could marinade chicken I’d defrosted for dinner yesterday, but ended up not using. Quick cooked it in the air fryer and he’ll take it into school tomorrow as snacks or part of lunch.
Thursday – my car was in for service early. N’s bus didn’t come so the OH ended up having to take a few of them into school while I waited around for my car. Luckily they were done fast, so I didn’t have long to wait before picking it up.
It wasn’t cheap as it needed front and rear discs/pads which I knew about. Then it came out with a mention of a cambelt service! It’s only done 43k miles. I’ve had cars (diesel admittedly) which have done 80k miles and haven’t needed a new cambelt. So I’ll have to do that before its MOT. And they said my rear tyres are perished. I’ve had the car 18 months and already put 2 rear tyres on it thanks to an old tyre and puncture not long after buying it. As well as new front tyres this year! I know our roads are terrible, but that’s appalling for under 13k miles a year.
Dancing was good. Super busy, and getting quite crowded at that venue. I had to stand in the back row rather than my usual spot in beginners. Hopefully next week I’ll be back in my usual spot.
Friday – my Tesco delivery was late. Ok, not as late as it might have been according to the estimated delivery. But the reason I book specific times is because it works in the day. The driver didn’t even apologise for being late which I found a bit annoying.
Saturday – when I got up I noticed N’s car washing stuff in the washing machine he’d put in was a bit soapy. Headed out into town, but on returning found the washing machine still all soaped up. As well as the wall next to the machine, and the floor quite wet. Then the machine got stuck on spin. So I ended up putting it on drain and praying the water would go. Finally I was able to open to door with only a full drum of soap suds. Sigh. He denies putting any more detergent in than normal, but he must have done (and evidently it was supervised by the OH). Of course it then had to wash again to get the soap out and spin it. Thankfully the machine seems fine.

New posts this week:
Things I’ve enjoyed this week:
- Next door’s new puppy
- Seeing my cornflowers and poppies starting to come up in the garden
- Slightly cooler weather, although it was still super hot at dancing
Things I’m grateful for this week:
- That there weren’t more things wrong with my car. Could have been worse!
- Getting a couple of possible dresses for a wedding in August – in the sale. Now to hope one fits and looks ok
- My Basque cheesecake lasting a few days for pudding (and no moans)
Whoops to the washing machine and the car sounds expensive. I agree with you the tyre usage is not good for that mileage. have you had the balancing done?
Nice to have some rain even if it was a bit on the cool side. That’s not good with needing tyres again so soon. We seem to get through tyres more quickly here too thanks to all the potholes on the local roads. Oops to N putting too much detergent in the washing machine. That is a lot of bubbles! Glad the washing machine was okay afterwards. #project365
Goodness me, that’s a lot of soap in the washing machine. Hope it won’t affect its performance.
Sorry to hear about all the car bills, it’s quite depressing.
Love leftovers for lunch. It has definitely been a cooler week, my younger son says he was cold in the night (but then he keeps the window open slightly).
Cars are a money pit aren’t they. I lease mine and they replace the tyres, but only if it’s wear and tear, not punctures or damage which is annoying. Hope the washing machine is ok – they’re expensive too when they go wrong
That is a very soapy washing machine! I’m glad it was working as normal afterwards.
It’s good that you found some dresses. Buying clothes for special occasions is very stressful; fingers crossed, they fit you well.
I often have leftovers for lunch, less waste, and it saves thinking of something to have.
It has been chilly this week but the rain has been good for the garden.
Ahh! It is nice to wake up just before the alarm goes off.
Eek! To the expensive bill for the car. It does sound bad about needing new tyres already.
Oh dear with the washing machine! The only time we have suds like that is when my youngest does the washing, she always adds more liquid than she should! I’m glad the machine is fine! x
