Project 52 2025 week 21
It felt like quite a short week, especially with a bank holiday weekend approaching and a few days away. Nice to be able to switch off from work, and a few fun things during the week catching up with friends. And more dancing. Here’s my week 21 of Project 52.
Sunday – did my usual Sunday morning chores, farm shop/butcher’s visit. A fun journey out in the sticks. I got stuck on the way there, held up by a women’s elite cycle race closing the road until they went through. Then came out and headed into town, to find them blocking off that road as they came out on their circuit. Heading home, I then met the charity tractor run coming out of our village. So an eventful morning.
Monday – had an interview first thing at work. Not sure how it went but fingers crossed. I felt a bit weirded out afterwards, so I struggled to get motivated for the rest of the day.
Tuesday – busy day, not helped by a mad panic at 4.30pm while I’m on a work call about to finish for flexi, with N asking if the batter for his food tech Italian cookies tasted ok. Nope. He thought it was the wooden spoon. Tried again, same issue. He checked all the ingredients. Except the vegetable oil…which was rancid. 3rd batch, and I had to help get it done. I was meant to be leaving at 5, to meet a friend at the theatre. Luckily I wasn’t too late, and we had a good chat before the show. The play was An Inspector Calls, both of us having studied it years ago for GCSE. Really well performed, and a memory back of reading the book in school.
Wednesday – no football training for N as league matches have finished, so they’ll have a couple of weeks off til nearer the tournament. I’d have thought they’d have still trained, so it was weird to have nothing on a Wednesday
Thursday – I was pleased to be out dancing. Nearly the whole main road to dancing had been resurfaced, and the road off that into the village, so that was a fun (slower) journey. I tried out my new Fuego dance trainers I’d been sent to review. They were great on that wooden floor and really light, but hot as they’re not leather/breathable fabric. They don’t spin well on my kitchen floor, so I’m hoping they’ll be ok at the other venue I go to as that’s the sticky floor.
Friday – end of the working week and last day before a week off was needed. I had another washload of N’s to do – 3 pairs of shorts and jeans that I swear I’d not seen him wear all week, because I’d told him I was pre-holiday washing on Thursday but he’d not put everything in his washing basket. Argh. Luckily it was dry and breezy so his stuff outside on the clothes horse dried fast. Nice evening at tennis chatting to another mum and putting the world to rights.
Saturday – early start to go to Cornwall. I’d wanted to leave at 6.30, but left at 7 in the end. The journey wasn’t too bad until 7 miles out hitting all the traffic. Took nearly 6 hours but we stopped for breakfast (including a failed stop at Gloucester services not getting anything due to the insane queues), so then trying the next place which was fine and fast. Also stopped for lunch, so I think it was a good run.
Hotel is quite nice and we had an upgrade to a seaview. Quick wander around Penzance to find everything, and brief go in the arcades before checking in. Then nice meal in a pub. My feet were killing – despite my 8 month old trainers having been worn multiple times shopping and for National Trust visits, 14k steps has given me blisters on my right sole. So I had fun popping that before tomorrow and I’ll be back into my walking trainers!
This week’s photo is of a random campervan parked outside the farm. I think it might have been collecting D of E kids, although it wasn’t on a weekend which is unusual round here.

No new posts this week.
Things I’ve enjoyed this week:
- Catching up with my best friend and her family
- Spending time with N, and chilling out a bit more on our break than we would usually do
- Theatre trip, unusually with a friend.
Things I’m grateful for this week:
- Getting the steps in. 3 days of a lot of walking.
- N agreeing to come on holiday (mini break) with me. I hope he enjoyed it too.
- Good drives in both directions considering it was half term and bank holiday.
Glad you managed to sort N’s batter out and get to the theatre on time. I once performed as an extra in the National Theatre version of An Inspector Calls – it’s one of my favourite plays. Glad you enjoyed seeing it. Love the photo of the campervan. Hope your blister healed quickly – it’s annoying when that happens with shoes that have previously been fine. #project365
Oh how lovely to go to Cornwall (though not envious of a long trip)! Hope you had a good weather. And the upgraded room sounds great.
The Inspector Calls is one of Eddie’s English topics for GCSEs next year, they have studied it this year. Glad you enjoyed the theatre trip.
The campervan looks cute.
An upgrade is always a nice treat, I’ve not been to Cornwall for years, too far for the odd weekend. I’ve not heard of dance trainers. Glad you enjoyed your theatre trip and had a friend to go with.
The camper van is so cute, I thought it was yours when I saw the picture. Staying in a hotel is more comfortable though and the trip is not that long. I’ve been to Cornwall only once, as it is so far from us, but we will go south for holidays at the end of the month, a 6-7 hours drive, like yours.
It sounds like you had a lovely week both before and during your holiday.
I hadn’t heard of dance trainers before, I hope they work on the other type of flooring for you.
An upgrade with a sea view is always a bonus!
It does sound like an eventful Sunday. All the tractors have been busy here going to a few tractor runs. They keep passing by my house. ‘
I studied An Inspector Calls for my GCSE’s and both my girls did, I would like to see the theatre show.
It sounds like a great break away so far. That’s good about the upgraded room. I hope your feet aren’t as sore now. x
